ideas

I have a story idea. I took a few notes on it and have even gotten a few harlequin books for research.
This adds another story to the pile that I want/need to write; but I'm choosing to look at this in a positive light. It means that my story ideas are coming back...that I'm starting to have ideas like I used to when I was able to write all the time.

A short post, this time. But at least it was an update.

Christmas

Tis the season and all that jazz. But for me it really just feels like just another day. Though me and the hubby have spent the day watching the Indiana Jones movies (all four of them) on cable.

I was able to check a few items off of my to do list, but as always, there are other items more than willing to take the freshly emptied spots.

This one will be a very short post -- mostly to stay in the habit of coming on here and typing something out quickly... Which goes along with my original goal. Okay, so I've been posting thus far more than one time a week, but that's not a bad thing. :)

Ah, Productivity...

Well, so far so good. My list of things to do is still pretty long, but I have been able to knock a few things off of it. I finally got off my butt and transferred my writing files to the new laptop I'm using while I put on Kill Bill for background noise. This computer is not quite as nice as my last one (and doesn't have a name yet...), but maybe that's a good thing. Perhaps this way I will find less things to be distracted by.
I've transferred my files over, written on the external hard drive cases to differentiate which one was which (though I really do need to get another one...).
I've even begun working on a story that has been on my mind for a few days now.
Okay, so it isn't the one everyone wants...but again, it's a step in the right direction. Getting the creative juices flowing again as it were.

Still on my to do list is:
* writing down notes for various stories that have been popping into my mind
* reading a couple of chapters for one of my classes next semester so I enter the class prepared to jump straight into learning
* writing everyday -- even if it is just a few hundred words. They add up!
* finishing the proofing on a story so that it can be released
* Updating my website so that the information is current
* Proofing a story for submission to a publisher and doing the tedious but necessary querry letter, etc.

I think that is a long enough list for now... If I make it much longer, I may just end up feeling so bogged down and overwhelmed that I lock myself up on continuing with my progress.
Again...it may be slow progress...but slow progress is still better than NO progress.

Goals

I've decided not to wait until new years to make a resolution.
I have decided to start a blog as a way to just in general ramble. Good, bad, ugly, or even whiney, it shall be posted.
I'm going to begin with a goal of one post per week. Whether it is about a book I've read, a class I'm taking, a story idea, or just in general frustrations, amusements, or even something I found humorous, I will post.

Today's post... other than about goals...is about fear.

The motivation for me to start this blog happened while I was at work and realized that I was afraid. Whether it is fear of success, or fear of being censored in my writing. Or even, sometimes the fear that despite the fact that I poured my heart into a story, someone out there will tell me that it sucks. Because at the end of the day, I'm still human. I love writing. It's one of the things that makes me feel the most like myself. But it's still a very scary thing to put yourself out there and hope that other people will think that you have written something worth reading.

Fear has gotten me nowhere.
So now, I attemp[t to take control of my fear and control it. To make it work for me and use it as a muse and/or motivator to write more.
